WEISSENFELS. Slovakian basketball representative Mário Ihring will play in the German top league in the 2022/23 season.
The 24-year-old point guard will transfer from the Hungarian MVM-Oroszlányi Lions to easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga participant, Syntainics MBC Weissenfels after a year.
One of the leaders of the Slovakian national team has had a successful bet in Hungary, scoring an average of 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game in the Lions jersey.
He comes to his new employer as a replacement for the Serb Nikola Rebič. This will be Ihring’s sixth international stop in his career. “I am happy to continue my career in the Syntainics MBC Bundesliga, one of the best leagues in Europe.
I thank the club for the opportunity. Of course I asked other players for information and heard only good things about the club, the environment. So I didn’t hesitate for long to take up the offer.
As befits a quarterback, I am a true team player, for whom the success of the team is above all else,” Ihring said on the club’s official website.
Syntainics players took 16th place last year, narrowly avoiding relegation to the second-highest league.
“Mário was one of the greatest talents in Europe in his youth. Now that he is 24 years old, he is already an experienced professional with a lot of international experience. I still see the potential in him that we want to awaken.”
Mário is physically strong and a team player, which is reflected in his average number of assists. He has a good move to the basket and takes responsibility in the decisive phases of the game,” said his new coach Igor Jovovič.
