Playoff final, basketball: Lučenec – Patrioti Levice 52:82

Daniel Sokolovsky, Luzenac coach: “Congratulations to the Lions, they played excellently, physically and concentrated, especially in defence. Looking at the final score – 52-82, it’s crazy that it was 51-57. I think a tighter rotation, fatigue and effort ultimately helped us cost a chance to succeed. We didn’t have the energy to move forward in attack and close the gap.”

Lukáš Bolek, Lučenac player: “It’s hard to judge. I congratulate the Lions on their well-deserved victory. They just deserved to win this game too. A big disappointment on our part, because I think we gave everything. We can look in the mirror. Unfortunately we didn’t make it to this match.

Michal Madzin, Levic coach: “We have a good feeling about this. I’m glad we did it. We really fought. I’m happy that we defended Lučenec to 52 points. That gave us the basis to think about winning.”

Šimon Krajčovič, Levice player: “An important win, it certainly wasn’t easy. We came to learn from the first meeting in Lučenac and not make the same mistakes. We knew that if we wanted to succeed, it would be defense.

We did not expect from the beginning that we would go to a blockbuster and the meeting would be decided. I’m glad we started focused. During the meeting, we created a lead, although we lost it at the end of the third quarter and it seemed like the home side stepped on the horse, but with a good start to the fourth quarter, team defense and performance, we succeeded here.”
