The Piešťanské Čajky have become a prominent figure in the Slovakian basketball team

Anna Jurčenková, a longtime Slovakian basketball representative, signed a contract with the Piešťany Seagulls. He will wear jersey number 12 in the new season.

The 36-year-old Jurčenková worked in the past in Košice, where she won 12 titles as Slovak champion. The native of Prešov is a prominent figure of the Slovakian basketball team. The veteran pivot took part in five European Championships in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. She also helped the national team advance to last year’s European Championship, where she was unable to play due to an injury.

“I am looking forward to the season in Piešťany. It will be my first experience in a Slovak team other than Košice. I chose Piešťany because it is a professional club in a beautiful city and besides the Slovak league we will also compete in the European Eurocup competition, where we face difficult matches”, replied Jurčenková for the official website of the Piešťany club.

General manager Bronislava Borovičková and head coach Peter Jankovič also expressed their satisfaction with the deployment of the new reinforcements. “I am extremely pleased that we have succeeded in recruiting a player of this caliber to the team.
